IBW-2015-Facebook-Group-784x250-FCOctober 4-10th

We have so much planned for International Babywearing Week 2015! There will be activities online (more details soon) as well as in person events nearly every day. Visit our Facebook page to RSVP to events.

We’ll also be running an online auction featuring local items and baby carriers to raise funds for our group.

Sunday, Oct 4th #EmbraceYourFamily
Family Picnic and Photos at Lake Crabtree Park, 10am-2 pm: Bring a lunch and join fellow babywearers at the Dogwood shelter. The shelter is close to the playground (and bathrooms) and we just might get a game a babywearing horseshoes going! Sarah Ford Photography will be doing babywearing photo mini-sessions. $20 for a 10 min session. You also have the option of booking 2 back-to-back sessions (20 mins total) for $40. Register for photos by emailing us at triangle@babywearinginternational.org and paying via PayPal. Spots are filling fast!

Monday, Oct 5th #EmbraceYourDay
It’s easier to embrace your day with a good cup of coffee (or tea)! Hang out with us at Bean Traders in Durham, 10am. Chat with other babywearers and stay for story time at 10:30.

Tuesday, Oct 6th #EmbraceYourAdventure
How adventurous are you feeling? We have options for everyone this morning! Enjoy a walk and picnic at Duke Gardens, 11am. Or choose a hike at Umstead park, Potts Branch trail, 11am. OR maybe you’d like to try dancing with Mambo Dinamico’s Babywearing Salsa class, Carmen’s Cuban Cafe, 11:30am.

Wednesday, Oct 7th #EmbraceYourOptions
Join us for a Beyond Basics Wrapping Workshop! This workshop will be instructed by VBEs and you will get the opportunity to learn new carries with your woven wraps! Don’t have a woven? No problem! We will bring extras from our lending library for you practice with during the workshop. There will be no check-outs at this event. This workshop is ideal for wrappers who know at least one carry (such as the FWCC). If you are brand new to wrapping, we would be happy to help you learn the basics of wrapping at any of our other monthly meetings. Children’s Flight of Hope (1101 Aviation Parkway, Suite D), 9:30am.

Thursday, Oct 8th #EmbraceYourLove
We’ll be holding a special afternoon cafe meeting at Grow in W. Raleigh/Cary, 2-4pm. We know you love your baby, but maybe you have a carrier that you don’t. Our educators can help you troubleshoot to get a better fit and find the #love for your carrier. There will be no formal demonstration or lending library at this meeting, but our VBEs will be present to answer your questions and help with any carrier you bring.  Our usual evening meeting will be happening in Durham, but since it’s IBW we’re going to have some treats and a door prize. The meeting will start with a Babywearing 101 demo and our lending library will be present. VBEs will be there offering hands-on help with our carriers or yours. Nido Durham, 6:30 pm.

Friday, Oct 9th #EmbraceYourSelf
As caregivers we so often put our little ones’ needs first! Come over to the Women’s Birth and Wellness between 2-4pm for a relaxing afternoon focusing on caring for your self. This will be a cafe style meeting with no formal demonstration. VBEs will be present. Our lending library will not be available, but we are happy to help you with your carriers. More details TBA.

Saturday, Oct 10th #EmbraceYouCommunity
We haven’t planned a special event for Saturday because there’s so much to do in the Triangle! We are working on a list of family events throughout to area. Make plans to go out with your family or some fellow babywearers and enjoy our community! Our fundraising auction featuring local items will be ending today so be sure to check one last time and get your bids in.
